class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>40% of French railway industry activity<\/li><li>14,000 professionals<\/li><li>about 200 businesses including international leaders such as Alstom, Bombardier, Siemens, Eurotunnel and a strong network of SMB (equipment manufacturers, design offices, engineering, etc.)<\/li><li>60% of the region\u2019s railway activity is based in the Valenciennes area<\/li><\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"h3 wp-block-heading\">Many actors participate in the structuring and development of the sector<\/h2>\n\n<p>Among these actors :<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/aifonline.eu\/\">The Association des Industries Ferroviaires (AIF)<\/a> comprises 130 members representing the entirety of the railway system: engineering, infrastructure, rolling stock &#8211; passenger &#8211; freight, control-command, maintenance, tests, certification, training, etc.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/railenium.eu\/\">RAILENIUM<\/a>, the only Institut de Recherche Technologique in France dedicated to the railway sector and infrastructure performance in particular<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/i-trans.org\/\">i-Trans<\/a>, an innovation centre for sustainable land transport focusing in particular on railway infrastructure, rail rolling stock, freight, and passenger mobility<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/european-union.europa.eu\/institutions-law-budget\/institutions-and-bodies\/institutions-and-bodies-profiles\/era_fr\">The European Union Agency for Railways (AFE\/ERA)<\/a>, which works to develop technical standards and international marking codes in order to ensure railway security<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-e-f.fr\/fr\/\">The Centre d\u2019Essais Ferroviaire (CEF)<\/a>, which allows all types of railway rolling stock to be tested for approval (speed, endurance, autopilot, electromagnetic compatibility, etc.)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.certifer.fr\/\">The Agence de Certification Ferroviaire (CERTIFER)<\/a>, an independent agency with more than 400 experts and an international leader in the evaluation of railway and urban guided transport products and systems to ensure their interoperability, safety, and availability<\/li><\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"h3 wp-block-heading\">A pool of qualified experts in the railway sector<\/h2>\n\n<p>The region offers several v<strong>ery specialized higher education courses in railways developed with industrialists<\/strong> (on-board communication in transport, rail
